I have to agree. The border is a gorgeous print but you want the STARS to be the center of where your eye goes to. You did a magnificent job with your piecing and the colors of the fabrics you chose. Congratulation on a job well done !!

Since the quilt is so busy..... and quite lovely.... I think that the border is a bit too much and actually takes away from the beauty of the quilt itself. I personally would to use a dark, solid color for the border next to the small purple strip which would frame the quilt beautifully.

It might be important to mention (& I forgot!) that the blocks go to the edge of the queen sized mattress and the border goes off the end and sides, so therefore not such a visual shock.

This was going to be my advice also .... unless of course you/your daughter really like it the way it is. Then I would leave it especially since you have indicated that the blue border will hang on the sides of the bed and it will look different once it is quilted. It is a lovely fabric and a lovely quilt so you cannot go wrong with whatever you do.

It is a beautiful quilt! Would you have been happier with in a more grey-blue? Maybe but it is done. A finished quilt is better than a UFO. Sometimes practicality wins over perfection. I am currently in the same boat. Do I proceed with my border fabric that I've already purchased? Or do I put the blocks away until I find another border. I think practicality is going to win over perfect for me.
