    I use strawberry containers. Along with thread, I also include small snippets of fabric. The birds do use them as I have seen the fabrics in their nests. I try to wedge the strawberry containers in the forks of trees.

    Having seen a poor dead bird hanging by one leg tangled in a string, I would not share these with the birds. It was sickening to think of how long that bird suffered hanging upside dwn flailing in the breeze. It was in my yard behind our barn and as I walked around the corner I almost ran right into the dead bird! My husband cut it down for me. It had not been there the day prior. Yuck!

    I lay my snips on the wood pile all year round. Not in a bag, but the birds do go crazy for them.
