Was it hard to do the QAYO log cabin? Where did you get the instructions from?
It's easy peasy! i think I first saw it in a book somewhere, can't remember which, but I've adapted the method as well. You just sew your strips direct onto batting and backing then join the blocks together. Eh voilą! Ready quilted! :D

PS Thanks for all your kind comments! Dougie is sleeping in it now! He's never been in his bed so much so I think he likes it! :D

Is it put together like a fun & done?

I can tell he loves it. It is really very cute. Watch the cat. He may steal it. Hold it ransom til you make him one. Tee Hee

What a sweet project! Looks like someone can sew more accurate seam allowances than I can! :) Please tell me that improves with lots of sewing - I'm hoping it does.

sewnsewer - I think it's like fun and done, I'm not exactly sure! I just cut squares of wadding and backing about an inch larger than the finished block, line up on the mat and find the centre with the ruler then pin the centre square; Then I take my strips (i've got lots precut to 1 and a half inch  ) and work my way round sewing RST after each strip I turn over and finger press then cut off the excess. When you get to the seams on the outer edge, leave a good half inch so you got room to manouvre when you join the blocks; when they're all done, i trim back the wadding and backing to about a half inch of the top and pin out of the way then sew the tops together RST on the machine first in rows. Finger press the seams, trim the wadding so it butts up. Join the rows together and do the same. Then fold over the backing and slip stitch down. You have to fiddle a bit in the corners to get it flat; then bind and it's done!

Rosemary - as for accurate seam allowances - if you could hear the bad language sometimes...takes a lot of fiddling but I'm getting a new machine so hope it will go better then - BUT I'll have no excuse! :D

And all of you with big doggies - go on!!! it's just a few more blocks, they're worth it! :D

I love your Dog Cabin! And Dougal looks like a sweetie. I really liked your idea of fussy cutting the hearts.
