Cathie, just some questions:
Did you just pin the plates in place or use fusible to attach to the background first before appliquing (SP?) ?
Did you use the machine blanket stitch to applique the plates to the background?
Did you use the lightweight fusible web on the center circles?
Did you cut out the background fabric and web from the circle after you appliqued it?
It looks totally awesome!

Are you making more?
I would, it would make a gorgeous quilt.
Pillow? What about doing a 1" border then a 2 1/2" border with your favorite fabric from the plates, then quilt and make into a pillow.
If a quilt, what about a 3 set sashing strip, with a 9 patch cornerstone.........purple, yellow, purple.......1", 1" 1"..........then a narrow yellow inner border then a wider favorite purple border.

Hi there Gcathy, just caught up with this thread so have been reading it through. What a lovely job you are making of your quilt. Then I read you have one Blue Ribbons. Its fabulous, you have got to enter that one.
Think another border, something to make it stand out. How about prairie points just to add the finishing touch. They are real easy too. Colour, something deep and rich.
Just my 5 cents worth as you gals say.

bearpaw.....hope to answer you questions.....
I pinned the plates and used iron on tearaway interfacing on the back of the goldish rust color....(page 5 of this thread)
I used machine applique blind hem stitch...on the smallest settings on my machine with an invisable thread in the top and a 60wt. thread in the bobbin and a micro sharp needle 60/8
I only used interfacing for the cirlce and I used a blanket stitch around the center to anchor it down
I didn't cut out anything....I thought I was suppose to...but the class I took they didn't....I was told it was up to me on what I wanted to do...either would be okay...less work so I chose not to...
I think I have some photo's on here of some of the steps where it shows the stuff I've used....
Hope I got you questions answered for ya if not just ask away and will try to solve them....
