Default Dresden Plate Quilt--The Work of 4 Generations

These plates were originally started by my Grandmother. After her passing, my mother added to them. They floated around to my sister, my niece and then found there way to me. There are lots and lots of squares. I was reluctant at first to tackle them. There were some burlap type fabrics (which we removed) those were replaced with current day fabrics. Some seams had to be corrected. We have been working on this since February.
My Granddaughter is 9 and has been sewing with me for 2 years. She selected the background, sashing and cornerstones to be used. She also decided on the puffy yoyos and the button centers. She helped with the construction and tried her hand at quilting the sashing. She is hooked. Can you tell by the look on her face?

Now we have to work on quilts with the rest of the plates for my other grandchildren.

    Thanks for looking

What a special quilt, and a beautiful girl - and FMQ at her age? Wow, she will be one great quilter one day.

    That's pretty!

The puffy middles and buttons were a clever addition.

    Really makes it pop.

Your granddaughter has a very good eye for color and construction.

    Very impressive!

What amazing gifts you have given your granddaughter-a multigenerational quilt to take pride in and cherish, and helping her discover her creative gifts! You are the coolest of Grandmas!
