Default Envelope Lap WIP and other goodies - mini-tut @ post #13

As of March, I got this much done of my Envelope Lap quilt. Haven't touched it since then, but intend to finish it...yea, right! I have 4 blocks done of 12 each per block. I have seen the open envelope pattern and the 3-D envelope, but didn't want either of those as fingers and toes get caught in the flaps so I just made my own pattern. I liked it so well, I decided to do one an inch smaller and really love it. It's called Special Delivery. I got to use up some of my huge collection of vintage buttons and will put buttons on the larger quilt too.

The next mini is Wonky Spools and it's my first time for wavy borders that I really liked doing. It was easier than trying to get them square! The little boutinniere was from the UFO box.

Cattails at Dusk is a seascape I've always wanted to do. It's handpainted and threadpainted. I love glitter so added that to show the reflection in the water. I love the purple mountains and purple cattails. The mountains are a wraparound feature to the backside.

Basketweave is a mini that was very challenging to do. My own pattern and I later discovered it is a variation of the Arabic Lattice pattern that has a 9P in its center whereas mine is just a single block. Sewing of this block must be slow and precise. The last piece of each block must be hand-tacked or hand-sewn down. I never spent so much time on a mini before as this one, but the results prove it's worth the time.

You may have seen Basketweave before when I posted along with a mini called Hearts and Flowers. It is just a free-form flower mini that was fun to do. I still want to finish it off with another butterfly to go inside the big heart between the 2 flowers.

I really enjoyed my sunset seascape and hope to do more.

Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy my little minis like I do! Envelope WIP

All your quilts are really cute. I really like all of them but especially the wonky log cabin with the spool embellishments. You did an awesome job of putting these together, chosing colors and embelishments. May you be blessed!
