I have a bunch of those sample books I got for free at a garage sale, If you are persistent and careful you can peel that paper off it is sticky on the back, once you get a corner loose most of it peels right off. No way was I going to waste 3 inches from each piece of fabric!! LOL I am making Totes out of some of it.

What wonderful fabric! Congratulations. I love both the large pieces.

It's a very pretty piece of fabric. I agree that before cutting it, that I would use a stabilizer, my only concern would be doing the stabilizer. I would definitely use a pressing sheet.

    I love the oriental fabrics.

I once made a quilt using old silk neckties. I used spray starch and was able to assemble them OK. Loved the outcome, ties belonged to my late FIL. But will probably not CHOOSE to use silk again.

These charts and articles basically contain similar information, but some of them include a far greater number of fabrics.
This might be worth a try:

I had to only cut off an inch. It was glued on big time and I wasn't going to fuss over it for an inch. In the wash it goes today.

Thanks for the links about silk. I'm assuming there's a silk batting on the market. I'll have to google. This sounds like one of those projects that I'll put aside to "investigate" and do later and will look at for about 5 years before deciding to put it back in the closet for another 5 years. LOL!

They sometimes work as pillow backs, too...
