    Hi everyone,

I wanted to make some fabric bowls for a workshop I'm running at the end of November so thought I'd share my 'practice pieces' with you! The folded one is from a tute I posted on QB last year. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-69512-1.htm

The triangular ones were from a link posted on here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-150306-1.htm intended as a thread catcher but I thought they'd be cute filled with some sweeties as a Christmas gift - they could then be used by non-sewers to store jewellery, bath bombs, pocket change, any little bits and bobs really! As they are made from 60 deg triangles, I couldn't resist doing a kaleidoscope type one - I cut triangles from a stack of three repeats and pieced them around a central toning triangle. The chilli one is cut from FQ size pieces of fabric and would be good for toiletries or even cooking spices as a gift for a chef. I love making these triangle ones - so quick and easy and I think they look great! BTW I put low loft poly batting in mine to give them some firmness.

The third style was from this link http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-139153-1.htm I didn't enjoy making these quite so much - the first one I made, the purple one, I wasn't happy with the satin stitch round the edge as the wadding poked through. So the second Christmasy one, I bound the edge by leaving the background square an inch bigger and folding over. The satin stitch up the sides was a right pain in the bottom as well! I love the look of these ('cept for my manky satin stitch!) but due to the fiddliness of construction, don't think this is a good option for a workshop.

If anyone has anymore ideas, links etc for other styles of fabric bowl or box I'd be grateful! :-D

    Lots of bowls!

Chilli bowl - I love this one and will probably keep itin my kitchen with spices in it!

Bowl from Hungarian tute - love the colours but hate my satin stitch

Purple bowl is reversible - I do like these, if only I could get that satin stitch up to standard!

2nd bowl from Hungarian tute - I bound the edges but the satin stich up the sides is still dreadful!
