You use 5" squares, but don't fold like you do for a quilt. You fold your square into a rectangle and then from the folded side take your two ends and fold down to the middle to make the triangle.

Mercy, what a nice response. I am not sure if this is where I respond to everyone, but will try. Several have asked for instructions.First, Bonnie's blog is http://funstitchery.blogspot.com/. Use any size wreath you wish, the amount of material will depend on the size of your wreath. Use at least three different fabrics, or you could make it scrappy. Cut into 5" squares - fold your square into a rectangle, then take the two outside edges of the folded ends and fold down to the bottom middle, thereby making a triangle. I found that drawing a line around the wreath in the middle helped with the placement of the triangles. Take a straight pin and pin in the fold of the point, you don't want your pin to show, then pin the bottom fold with a T-pin or two straight pins. Place the second triangle about 3/4" below the point of the first and pin and be sure the bottom fold is in line with your drawn line on the wreath. Continue around the wreath and when you get to the end you will need to UNPIN the first couple of triangles in order to tuck in the last triangle. My wreath is 12" in diameter and I used about 48 triangles. Which was 16 squares per material, which came out to less than 1/2yd. for each of the three pieces of material. If you follow your drawn line around the wreath, you will see the inside points automatically point inward. Hope this is clear, if not feel free to let me know and I will try to help.
