Finally done - Scrappy Sister's Choice Quilt
#55
Very nice quilt.
After the first bed skirt I had kept sliding off the box spring on one side or the other, I cut the ruffle off the flat piece that is supposed to cover the spring and sewed the ruffle by hand to the cording on the box spring so it stayed in place. I've made two bedskirts since then, and I also sewed them to the cording instead of using a muslin piece between the spring and mattress. It works great!
The skirt doesn't have to be all in one piece. For a box type skirt, I made two corner pieces, two side pieces, and a foot-of-the-bed piece, and where they came together, I folded the top piece back and made what looked like a pleat.

the last, and i mean THE LAST, bedskirt i made stayed in place with velcro. i used that gun that shoots those tags to hold velcro onto my boxspring top-edge, and sewed one strip onto my bedskirt. i have a footboard as well as a headboard so i made the ruffle at the foot as a separate piece. now i know why they're called 'dust ruffles'.
do you really want the skirt or do you really want the quilt bigger?if you want the quilt bigger, you can do it the same way as a QAYG and forget the skirt.
you can quilt the border at home if you stay with simple straight lines (channels), echoing the straight edges.
