I ended up having to rip out lots of seams!
I don't understand this tip. But it sure sounds important. Can you explain this again? SAS is on my bucket list, and I don't want to mess it up.

Are you saying the color placement should look like this? :

quiltingshortimer is talking about pattern not color. If you google Storm at Sea Quilt Images, and pay attention to the sashing, which is the outside row with the diamonds in it, you can see some that don't have the movement similar to this Accuquilt design. https://accuquilt.com.au/go-storm-at-sea-quilt That is the double sashing which is what the outside row is.

Now, here is one called Traditional where the sashing isn't doubled. https://lindafranz.com/galleries/storm-at-sea-quilt/41 To me, a totally different look.

This one from Craftsy really shows what you can do by just changing the colors within the pattern. https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/pat...sea-var/227657

    Thank you Barb
I am planning a scrappy SAS to use up my left over fabrics.

I'm following the Marti Michell pattern featured in
American Patchwork Quilting Magazine, April 2018 issue

I purchased her templates and find them user friendly.
