I’m not very experienced either. It wasn't too difficult. the hardest part for me is deciding on fabric placement. The Y seams take time but not hard. I love this quilt, it is on our bed.
My tips are:
Make a good templates and cut your piece accurately
When you sew the rows together, mark the edges that go together. I use color straight pins. Before I marked them, I put the wrong edges together and had to redo it a couple of times.
Have fun. I want to see it when you are done.
