    I was told by the sewing store I go to that this is called puffing - may have other names.

    I did it on my serger - I made a ruffle by running the strip of fabric thru the ruffle foot, then went the opposite difrection on the other side of the fabric strip with another row of ruffles.

    beautiful work Karen, be very proud! And I was taught it wass called ruching. Not sure of that spelling though.LOL

    That's the word that I thought it was called, and when I told the lady at sewing store that's what I planned on doing, she immediately, and almost tersley, told me that it was not rouching, but if fact puffing - never got "scolded" by sale lady before.
    If I had not liked and respected this lady I would have been angry, but she is really good and a nice person - just hit a nerve that day I guess.

    What an amazing amount of work. The embroidery is stunning! I love the visual interest. I just keep finding more and more things to look at. :D

    That is absolutely beautiful. The sashing are wonderful. I love the gathered fabric. It adds so much to the quilt. Great job and thanks for sharing.

    Gorgeous!! I wouldn't have thought to use black either, but it sure did set it off!! Fantastic job and overall effect, what a pleasant dining room to walk into!
