I don't know anything about setting the colors, but the quilt is adorable!

The quilt is so cute. I don't know if the blow dryer will work. I guess it's worth a try.

I've never made a crayon quilt, but after looking at yours I might just have to!

That is such a beautiful little boys quilt. I have 3 little boys that would be fighting over that one!!

I wish I could help. The quilt looks wonderful and soft. You did a great job. How old is your grandson? I hope he appreciates all the work you've put into it.

If you have scraps, make a sample. Use the same fabrics, scribble some crayon and use the same methods that you used on the quilt. Quilt it with some backing scraps. Cut what you've done in half.

On one half, paint the stuff. Cut that in half. Heat one half with the iron. Heat the other with the hair dryer.

Cut the unpainted piece in half. Set one aside.

Put the other three pieces in the washer and see what happens.

This will give you a definitive way to find out if
    1) you need to do anything at all.
    2) the iron is a problem with puffy poly batting
    3) the hairdryer is hot enough to get the results you want.

    Good luck. Keep us informed!!

I do believe Shelly what you suggested I will do. Tomorrow is when I get the Textile Medium. So when I get off here I am going to color me a block sandwitch, quilt it and cut it like you said. Your directions are like the Science Projects, with the formula, hypothises, and out come. Wonderful. Right up my alley. I was a Science Teachers Assitant for the last 3 years before my retire from PalmBeachCo. School Board,FL. Can't go wrong doing it that way.

    Thank You

Contact the company that manufactures the medium. I'm concerned about residual wax from the crayons. When you ironed them, did you have paper towels in between the iron and fabric to absorb wax? No water-based medium will soak in waxy areas.

When I was in junior-high, we colored laundry bags with crayons, ironed them on,and fading was not a huge issue.
