Judi there is only one book and that is the Dear Jane book. This is a good site for helpful hints on making the quilt and she sells the book too Anina from Twiddletails - http://thatquilt.blogspot.com/ I have ordered from her and always had good service.
Also if you go to the original Dear Jane site, Brenda sells the rulers, freezer paper and the book and software if you want to go that route. Brenda can be slow at times sending things but has a good reputation too.

I am in awe of this quilt. It is absolutely stunning.
How many different reds would you say you have in
this quilt? I know in some of the 30's Dear Janes,
there are upwards of 230 different fabrics. Do you
have any idea how many different reds you used?
If I ever make one, it will have to be red and cream -
I LOVE THIS QUILT!

To get an idea though of how many colors it takes if you want each block or triangle different there are 52 pieced triangles I believe and 169 pieced blocks plus 4 corners so each of these would use a color plus a background.

Marcia this is just a two color quilt - I made it with a red batik (a Princess Mirah batik I believe it was called) so it has a look of more than one red though. The background fabric was called "buttercream"

to make your quilt. I was wondering if you used many
different reds, or just one, plus the cream background.

Another Stunner (x2). To all the doubtful ones - go for it. I started one in Oriental fabrics (that is fabrices from the Orient=Japan)in July 2010 and am planning on it being a very loonngg term project as I tend to avoid hand sewing and have only done a very small amount of applique. Therefore if I can do it everyuone else can too. Should be a great learning curve for me. Season's Greeting to all and the very best for 2011. May each of you receive in your life that which is most needed. CB
