I started this about three years ago and finished it the other day. The 9Ps were I think my first attempt at machine piecing and the hearts were hand appliqué, needle turn. It's hand quilted, nothing fancy, just outline and echo and a little heart motif in the centre of each 9 patch (I used one of the kids' pastry cutters as a template!). It's around 7' square and it has a Hobbs wool batting. The back is unbleached flannel. It's REALLY soft and cosy! :-D

PS - I had a couple of heart blocks over so made the matching cushions, using the scraps as the border. Really tiny scraps too, using Izy's Crumb tute on here!

I love this quilt because of the plaid hearts. Lots of work with all the hand quilting. I like those little hearts quilted in the center of the nine-patches. The pillows are nice too---like that you added a stripe to them. You did a fantastic job.

    Thank you everyone! :-D

I do a lot of stuff on the machine these days, where as I used to work exclusively by hand and that's not a bad thing (at least, my output has increased somewhat!) but hand work will always have a place in my quilting life! At least, I have to justify that couple of hundred I persuaded DH to spend on a Gracie Floor-standing Hoop, as something other than a WIP stand!

Your quilt is gorgeous!!! The colors look so warm and cozy. I would love to have it on my bed. And the pillows are the perfect touch!

Beautiful quilt and I just have to love how straight those plaid lines are.

Just gorgeous! I love the plaid hearts. It's a very country, farm type looking quilt. I love it!

I have nothing but respect for all of you that do anything by hand. I do not at all have the patience to work on something that long. I was complaining up a storm the other night while I sewed the bottom of a hanging sleeve on a quilt. That's how bad I am! :)
