Finished Quilt for my niece...handquilited.
#77
I just wanted to thank everyone once again. I am very thankful for your compliments. I have done a handful of quilts...all but two are handquilted. And those two were lapquilts and I just did straight lines for the quilting. I don't have a machine that will do machine quilting. (Hoping to get a nice machine soon...going to check out some past threads.) I want to learn to machine quilt but I know my love will always be handquilting. I second guess myself all the time. I don't know anyone who quilts and the ones I have seen at the small quilt show that comes to my area are SO perfect....or very old. My back never looks like the front. I suppose it is practice. I will say that my stitches improved with this quilt. I fretted so much about the design of the handquilting and how to get it done. Don't know if I did 'right' or not, but I wound up with a stencil (18x8 inches) and one of those invisible pens and went to town doing a small section at a time. So how does everyone else do it?? I am sandwiching one for my son tonight and will hand stitch in the ditch for it. We'll see how it comes out.
You are all so wonderful. What a happy place this board is.
