Fire & Ice
I posted a picture of a couch that I quilted several years ago. http://www.quiltingboard.com/pictures-f5/yes-i-quilted-my-whole-da-darned-couch-t101503.html It is still my favorite but since I sold it, I needed to replace it. I purchased a used couch from Craig’s list. Very clean and quite serviceable just as it was, but too soft for my taste so I knew I’d have some work to do. All the quilting and piecing was done on my Juki DMS. My shoulders have the aches to prove it…
I put out a request to family members that do quilting for all their scraps that they could spare and I got some truly beautiful scraps! This project took me over 6 months from start to finish. I do love a challenge, so I chose a pattern that was beyond my skill set. I cheaped out by trying to make my own paper piecing pattern. That was not a good idea. By the time I finished it, I really hated it. The quilt has more ‘issues’ than I care to admit….things like pointless stars, and suns that don’t meet properly in the center a truly bad choice for the backing (pieced flannel scraps). But for all that, I’m starting to love it again now that it’s finished.
I'm sorry for posting so many photos, but this project used up all of my time for a long time....I have not been on the board for a while because every spare moment has been dedicated to finishing That Da#%$^ed Quilt
