I think it looks pretty darned good. I don't care who you are, you can always use more practice. You should be very proud of yourself. I guess you are like I am in the way that you expect too much from yourself.

That's your first??? WOW I am so impressed! At this rate, you'll be a pro in no time! :) I've been practicing for awhile now and am just getting comfortable with loops and stars.

Awesome, Melissa! Between you and Jackie, well - let's just say there is practice, and then there is Practiced :D That is a mighty fine job

I love Patsy Thompson's teaching methods because she uses regular sewing machines (and she's a great teacher!) Thanks for sharing your inspiration!

[/quote] Its free hand. go to this sight, she has lots of quilting designs. The one I went by is in the Fast & Free, vol. 3 under the revolving axis family category.

Thanks, Melissa! Do you just print it off, for a visual reference, and try to follow it then? I've only done two small doll quilts, just kind of meandering, and am still so in awe of what a lot of you do!!

Wow freehand?!?! And your first?!?! The only free motion quilting I ever attempted was a table runner I made for my mom and all I dared attempt was a meander but it was a fairly close one. Wish I had a picture of it to share. Thanks for the link to this site. I agree lots of great stuff. Time to make some practice sandwiches. :-)

That is exactly what I did. I had the printed sheet next to the sewing machine when I was practicing and just kept looking at it. Oh I did practice drawing it on paper a few times first
