The fishing poles and the gun sections were from a pattern by Sulky the rest was my design...

It is impressive. I am planning 2 deer quilts, one for my husband and one for my son. I hope to have them ready for christmas. I have some of the fabric but want to get more shades of brown for framing. I like how you combined hunting and fishing. My mind is swimming with more ideas of how I may do it. Thanks for the picture.

Thanks for the kudo's... the applique patterns were from the sulky Secrets to successful Applique the pattern was by Carol Ingram. I used a log cabin for the blocks, the quail squares, came from ebay marshal dry goods. :-D they have great fabrics... I used cotton for the batting. I was fortunate with that beautiful brown fabric, a friend's aunt was getting rid alot of her stash, and she brought me a few pieces. I was not sure when I received the material what I would use it for... but I think it fit perfectly with the sportsman motif. I hope this helps... ( the patterns themselves are like clothing patterns, out of light tissue paper.) For the fishing line I used yarn. for the applique I used wonder under and raw edge technique. ( My favorite technique, just have to remember everything is in reverse)
