Default First time to work with Minky

We had Secret Santas at work. For my final gift I made a 3-yard quilt with a super easy pattern and Minky backing. The minky was EASY to work with - I was afraid it would creep so spray and pin basted. No problem. I'm a music teacher who has taught long enough that I was the TEACHER for the girl whose name I drew. I taught her AND her daughter and we have now been co-workers for maybe 10 years. On her Secret Santa form she listed minky blankets as a favorite thing. Well, I had some minky waiting for a project so here it was! She teared up and said some very sweet things when she opened it. A Quilter's Moment, for sure.

Minky is so soft and comforting. I am sure she will use it and treasure it, and think of you everytime she snuggles with it.

It's very pretty. And when she snuggles up in it, she will think about you.

What a lovely quilt/gift, and thanks for sharing that minky is easy to work with! I know my daughter would love a quilt at least backed with minky, but I dreaded working with it. Do you have any tips about working with the pile?
