Beautiful! I haven't bitten that bullet yet but it is always in the back of my mind.

I did a google search of scrap quilts to see what style caught my eye... I happened upon a Jacob's ladder which I have adapted to create the secondary diamond pattern. Here is a close up of the blocks so you can see the layout

    :-D

This is eight blocks layout, you can see how you turn the blocks to create the diamonds and cross pattern!

Thanks Challys..it's lovely to think I am inspiring you! If you look at my previous post you will see pictures of the layout. It purely consists of 4 patchs made from 2" squares and HST's made from 2 4" squares stitched together and cut through the diagonal method. Place these together in a 9 patch formation as in the pictures...Then you get to play! :-D

I love your idea Sewfine, don't forget to post pictures so you can inspire others too!

Thanks everyone for your great comments, it really cheers me up

I have acquired all sorts of scraps over the last year, quite a few from friends, including a couple of quilting angels here on the board (thank you, you know who you are) and charity shop clothing that I have recyled. I didn't think that I would have enough so bought a pack of 100 4" squares on ebay which were quite modern and funky fabric which have added a lot of zing to this quilt. The fact is I probably still have enough squares to make another quilt too  :D
