Ok, so once you cut the squares into diagonals, you have 4 stacks of 4 triangles in each. What do you sew together? the 4 pieces in each stack?

Thanks for the reminder of how to make these adorable quilts. Project Linus is so lucky to have you in their corner. Great work.

Yes. You can actually make a good one by just using the squares ... I shouldn't sound like I know what I am talking about ... but, this is basically a "Tip Toe through the Hexagon" thing. One block wonder ... or stack and whack.
The principle is to line up the fabric repeats on top of each other ... cut the shape you want to use - - a square, or an equilateral triangle, or squares cut on the diagonals.
When you have completed your cutting, take one stack of four and lay them out, then join them so that the same colors/figures line up in the same place within the block you are about to sew.
If you do a search (by going to the top of the page, clicking on search) type in the words "Tip Toe through the Hexagons" and you will find three tutorials by CuteBuns ... don't let the hexagons throw you, just read through Cutie's excellent instructions and enjoy the students as they work through the fabric selection, the cutting, the sewing, and the laying out ...
And, by all means! Keep asking questions, because here at the Board, we are here to help <wave>
