Ok, here are a few tips while they are fresh in my head for those of you who want to try it. The instructions say to cut the fabric across from selvage to selvage. Don't do it! If you have fat quarters, cut them on the straight of grain, the grain that doesn't stretch when you pull it. If you have yardage, cut off a 1/2 yard increment and then cut your strips from that on the straight of grain.

If you cut on the selvage to selvage your strips will have a bowed look to them and they stretch as you sew.

Leave all the paper on until you have added the squares. The points of the diamonds are extremely bias and the paper helps to keep it in shape.

I sprayed with a heavy starch and pressed with an up and down motion, right on top of the paper, never slide the iron.

Get up after sewing every two strips to pin on the next two, do not do all this sitting down. I don't press the block until I am finished with the strips. I finger press (with my nail while holding down the strip). After pressing the strips, I then add the two tri's at the tip and middle, holding it up to the first block to make sure I put the tri's in the right place.

I now have all the 8 diamonds. I will sew a set of four together, so I will have two set of four. I will then start on the squares and after adding those to each section, I will sew those sections together.

Here is a pic of the diamonds pinned to the board in the order that they will be sewed. It helps to have a board to do this as this quilt needs a lot of attention.

Looking at the quilt you can see the middle garden, surrounded by two fences, then you can clearly see the dark circle. As you keep looking you will see different forms. This is a great example of how value plays a major role in dimension. In this case light and dark. It doesn't mater if I used all different color fabrics, as long as I kept them in the right place but them I wouldn't get my fences lol.

It won't let me upload the file. I will try again later

I have joined the two halves together and let's see I will be able to upload the pic. Ok it worked today. I started to sew from the middle of the diamond, setting in 1/4 inch to the end of the diamond in the middle. I still have all the paper on. It went very well. I will leave it at this stage until I get some square pineapples done to set in and see how it work with the paper.

Did I mention that I will call this quilt, "the jewel in the crown?" as it will be a bit different from the fairy ring.....or I might still change the name later, depends lol.

I see one spot where the strip is a tiny bit off, you know I'm going to fix that lol....

Beautiful and what detail, must took a long time. Wished I could afford to buy fabric by the bolt like on your table. Must be nice.
