    Default Flannel Stars

A friend of a friend is de-stashing. My friend passed on to me this small stack of flannels. I love the way she put the colors together. The largest piece was used for the background. I prewash all and this one bled like a stuck pig... had to wash 3 times!

this will be donated to the cancer center, but I want to keep it for a couple of weeks to 'pet the fabric' LOL

I got it in my mind to do a partial-seamed star - really? LOL I made up the pattern and templates. I would usually snowball the rectangle, but was really short on the fabric. So taped the template to my ruler and had about a 1/2" strip left over. I had to piece a couple of the redish triangles to have enough. Overall, I probably only have a total of a fat quarter's worth of scraps left over.

I also wanted to practice my ruler work and used Angela Walters method of determining the design using point to point on your blocks... so no marking of the design on the quilt. The border waves were tricky going around the corners [I won't show a closeup of the other 3 corners LOL] The backing is regular quilting cotton.

And this is the finished quilt!

You have inspired me to get out some of my templates. I have this same set and they are at a finger tip. Humm... I have a quilt that I am going to do up on my DSM here real soon.
Reading and responding to many of the post here remind me of the many things I have here that have been put away for safe keeping. You collect a lot of quilting supplies over 30+ years.

Your vision QuiltnNan is amazing. I liked the colors but could not see what I would do with them. You turned the fabrics into a really great quilt. Someone will be very lucky to get this beauty.
