This quilt brings back memories of some of the skirts I had as a youngin'. I loved them. And this quilt is so beautiful.

They did have advertising on them in the early years. DH remembers his DM bleaching and dyeing them to make his clothes. I think it was in the 20s or early 30s that some one got smart and starting printing them. The flower sacks were the smallest usually 10 pounds, they are about the size of a fat quarter. The feed sack were for quanities of 50# & 100# and are about a yard of fabric. Sometimes it's called chicken linen. The colors in these bags are so vibrant. The last bunch of bags I got were so dirty that I washed and bleached them in hot water and they were beautiful aterwards. At one time you could even buy yardage to match the feed sacks. There are several books on feed/flower sacks. It's very interesting history. I don't remember them, but DH does.

Pinwheels are my favorite! I really like the one escaping into the border, a little rebel pinwheel.

Thank you to everyone that's viewed and/or commented on my quilt. I love to quilt and yes show off my work. This board offers me the opportunity to do this with out lugging it another place, taking the chance where it could get stolen or lost.
