    Default Flowers, flowers, flowers

All the beautiful spring flowers you have been posting, prompted me to share my flowers. This quilt hangs on the wall next to my bed and is usually the first thing I see when I open my eyes. It contains some applique, some broderie perse, some snippets (e.g. the sunflowers) and lots and lots of handmade 3D flowers embellished with beads and sequins. The 'basket' is finished off with long strings of beads that were plaited and then sewn on . I used little pearl seeds to quilt the background and then made all the borders of shiny fabrics (which I will definitely run under the serger if I ever used them for borders again) with SITD to make them stand out. This project took forever but was fun in the extreme.

What a beautiful site to wake up to each morning. During the winter, this would be really refreshing and to remember that spring is just around the corner. Lovely work.

This is the kind of quilt I love staring at in shows, all the little details that a picture just doesn't do it justice.

I think a lot of thought and talent must have gone into the process of making something this detailed. Very nice!
