There are lots of ideas for variations in the book too - once I'm happy with the basics, I can't wait to give some of those a try!
I agree with your statement and by the way your quilt runners are gorgeous. I couldn't find any wonky ones! I have not tried doing any of the variations yet, but will try soon, I think. I really like how they look so flowy and just hand drawn - not so tight like traditional feathers are.
You don't need a fancy new machine in order to do this stitching. I have an off brand machine that's 30 yrs. old. Just let yourself try it.

Yes FWL - I think it's that flowy thing that makes them so forgiving! And in a sense, they're 'supposed' to be wonky! That's my story anyway, and I'm sticking to it! LOL

Wow, these are wonderful. I'm going to have to look into that book. You make it sound so easy.

I did do a LOT of practice with paper and pencil first, until I could draw them fluently, almost with my eyes closed! I'd read all about 'muscle memory' but didn't fully believe it til I tried it! The brain really doesn't seem to know whether it's a pencil or a needle doing the drawing. As I said earlier, I filled an entire A4 pad and got through a few pencils too! This is thanks to Katrine (a friend her in France and also on the board) who does the same - where she leads, I follow! :-D

K, your quilting is beautiful, I don't think you need anymore practice.
