Hi Terri, really pretty. I just make my Prairie Points by cutting a square, say 4" or 8" however big you want them to be and then fold then into a triangle. No sewing and then fix them between the binding.

Oh yes, I tried it first and was REALLY mad as I had cut the strips, then made the cuts in them to speed things along, only to find out it's wrong!
Sat and looked at the pictures that were posted, then figured it out. Ok, I had my ruler out and measured the pictures lol

As for using your can lid - I only the other day used a pin pot to trace a scallop for quilting lines on a mini quilt I'm making! Use what you've got I say - it's what our foremothers would've done - they didn't have fancy stencils and templates!

That is beautiful! I love Dresden plates and the color are gorgeous.
When I first read about your starch can it was an older post so I didn't understand that you used the lid for the scallops. I thought you used starch to attach the applique pieces and thought... that's a great idea! Starch it really good so that it sticks to the background and then sew around it. When washed it would come loose in the middle and it would be like needle turn or something.
