Though I've sewn for over 40 years, this is only my 3rd
quilt I've made. It will be given as a gift to my 90 year old uncle in August. He never married, nor had any children of his own, so all of us nieces /nephews were his "kids". So, the pictures on the quilt are of his parents, 7 siblings, and some of the 22 of his nieces/nephews and their spouses & kids, and even some great great ones. I had it machine quilted (long arm).

    What a magnificent gift!

However, a word to the wise, please determine who this quilt is passed on to now to avoid problems in the future. I painted life size portraits of Mom and Dad several years ago and gave them to them for Christmas. Since I have 5 brothers and sisters I made if very clear that the portraits were never to be considered part of Mom and Dad's estate. They hang in my living room now and no one got upset because where they ended up was something that was always known.

Thanks for the input! I have thought of that.

Out of the ones that made it, if you all agree, put all the names in a hat and draw one out. Or, you could put everyone that's on it in a hat and draw. But the decision of how to do it should be up to only the people listed on the back. Just don't let there be any hard feelings.
