I love the quilt and your roses too. My first quilt class was a sampler class, but I only wound up making two wall quilts out of the blocks, and they were all hand pieced, and quilted. One block in particular - Aunt Sukey's Choice - was one I wasn't fond of, but over the years I have changed my mind. If I ever say I would never make that block (what it happened to be) I would eat my words eventually. I still think a sampler is a great way to start. My applique block had the teacher shaking her head as to how I had managed to sew it the way I did. Well, turns out, I'm right handed, except for certain things - like hand sewing, but didn't find out until I was taking a class on making a ribbon roses quilt block and the teacher commented "I didn't know you were left-handed." Whatever floats your boat. For a first quilt you did a great job.

Do you have a family member overseas in the military? I kept a blue star banner in my front window when my DD was in Kuwait...and recognized it in your avatar...

That's a great quilt for your very first one. No one would ever guess.

Quilt is awesome - you did a wonderful job and the roses are beautiful! It is so hot here in Amarillo that mine are only blooming beautifully one maybe 2 days and then they wilt but I enjoy them so much.
