Cuppi duke, it is great fun. You should round up some of your local QB members and get together. It's a great brain storming opportunity. Are you anywhere near Driggs?

Well I was there and had a great time. After these ladies went on home, I drove on to another town, Kerrville and visited Creations, and awesome, fabulous, tired my eyes out kind of store for there was so much fabric and designs and new ideas to see.

If any of you are coming to the central Texas area to visit relatives or friends and are staying awhile, let us know so we can do another get together. Last April "lalaland", Leslie from California was here and four of us got together and made it to three different shops in three different towns. It is so good to meet other QB members.

Another picture at lunch on Main St., Silver Creek Cafe in Fredericksburg, TX.

Remember the cowboy placemats I showed you all? Well at Creations in Kerrville she had some paper called Golden Threads Quilting Paper. AND, Stacey I had forgotten all about the Texas outlines you had sent me in two different sizes until I got home and my brother, who knows the recipient that will own these placemats, said why don't you quilt an outline of TX inside the white part? Well duh.....I have two so the smaller one fits perfect. So here are some pics of the first placemat I started this morning by tracing your copy onto the paper I bought yesterday. Now, the gold thread is a bit faint. Opinions Please.....here are three spools of golden thread, metallic that I have. The one on the far right is the one I sewed on FMQ the TX outline. The middle one is the Sulky Holloshimer. The one on the left is just a few shades more gold than the one I used. What do you think????

After tearing out the outer paper, the inside outline piece was easy to remove in one piece.

I used the spool to the right. Shall I go with a bolder gold, as the spool on far left is a bit golder and one in the middle is Holoshimmer.

Closer view of the threads. Votes please!!

Cute placemats V - I think which ever of the gold shows up the most. On the one n the pic that you have completed, it doesn't show up too bold (but pics can be deceiving)

Take care - The trip kinda wore me out, so been a little lazy today

GGGranny I am trying out the Holloshimer and it looks fabulous. Doing swirls with big loops on the dark blue sides now as we speak. The girl I am giving this to loves glitch and glitter so she will really like this.

    I slept in this morning!

OK one coaster and one placemat done. It still looks faint with the Holloshimer thread but in real life you really can see TX outlined when lying flat.

A gift to a friend that I have known since elementary school. She has a condo at Horseshoe Bay and her theme is Texan/cowboy. Her birthday is July 11 but I want to give them to her early since it is red white and blue. She is having my brother and I over July 3rd. HSBay is doing fireworks over the water from the sandy beach and we can sit on her balcony and watch. They are about the only area that I know of that is doing fireworks. Even Blue Lake where her actual home is cancelled their fireworks. I also made napkins to go with the set; they are the red with gold stars, same as backing/border. Going to do a creme white round tablecloth that has gold sparkles in it. Round tablecloths are super easy to make. Just have to do the math.

We are out the door to FBG for the weekend. Have a good one!
