Thank you! That's a good idea - maybe I will do that with the purple one if I finish it.

Those are amazing. I especially like all of them!!! The purple/gold combo is luscious.

Stunning work. What machine do you use for this? Your control is awesome! Please tell us about your methods to achieve this look. You are very talented.
    peace

Thank you very much! Truly I have no special method other than doodling. For the purple piece I used scrap quilters dream batting (poly select - two layers) that I had laying around. It is not a preference, just what I had. For the green I used two small leftover pieces of Hobbs 80/20 from another quilt. I do like the loft of the Hobbs versus the QD but I use them both often. The purple fabric is a hand dyed fat quarter from a project several years ago. The green is scrap from the border of the quilt that I originally was practicing this for - though I don't know at this point if I will continue on with my plan. I used Glide thread for both - which is my preferred thread for high contrast quilting. For blended textural quilting I like Bottom Line or So Fine thread.

Regarding design I'm inspired by the intricate works of Diane Gaudynski, Sharon Schamber, and many other great quilters. This is doodling at it's best with no real plan in mind. I do on occasion draw an arc or feather spine out ahead of time with a water soluble marker or disappearing ink just to make sure it will blend in well with the overall quilting, but that's as far as the marking goes...the rest is just that very pleasurable spur of the moment kind of "drawing".

OH - and this was done on my Juki TL 2010 Q - though I also quilt on an APQS Ultimate 1.

You are an amazing quilter. I have tried feathers without much luck, at least in my opinion.
