    Wouldn't the feet moving against the slider wear the
    slider out?

    You did a great job!! My personal preference for myself is
    to not drop the feed dogs on my Bernina or cover them. I find I have better control that way.

    When some machines feed dogs are dropped it can be hard to get a quality stitch, I also leave my feed dogs up and cover them with the slider or a piece of clear vinyl from wal-mart. I like the clear vinyl because I can make it as large or small as I want. The slider is very good, but expensive. the vinyl is by the yard and is I believe approx. 54" wide so you can make it whatever size you want, then just tape it down with packaging tape. Works great. don' forget to make the hole for your needle to go through. I also have vinyl on my table to the left of my machine so it is very easy to slide the quilt around.
