If you don't cover the feed dogs you don't have the freedom to move the quilt when and where you want to. Does that make sense? You need the free motion to move the quilt and the dogs want to control the fabric under them.

    good Luck

Your quilting is beautiful. Does Leah Day have a free tutorial on how to do this? Could you give me the website information pls?

I read from an earlier quiltingboard post that some ladies are using parchment paper as their slider. This may help some of us who can't pay the higher price for a slider. Hope this helps. Love the stitches in your free motion pattern. Maybe there is hope for me yet!

Thanks so much for your post. I have the same machine, like it very much. I have been practicing my FMQ too but it is not very good. I will try with the feed dogs down and get a slider or use vinyl as suggested by another post. Maybe my FMQ will look as good as yours someday. Thanks for the info.

Your stitches are beautiful. How big is this quilt? Are you working on a small piece or a regular quilt? I can't imagine using a desk top machine to fmq a large quilt.
