    Thanks everyone for the ideas.... here it is all done. I've never done a pieced bias binding before, and it's doubtful I'll ever do one again, but I think it turned out pretty cool. I wish you could see better in the picture, I did the quilting in a variegated thread.

    Back - lining up this enormous four-patch so it wouldn't be crooked in relation to the front was much harder than I thought I'd be!

    How fun! How big is the quilt? Owls are so the thing now. I see them everywhere in quilts. You did a very nice job on that border.
