    Hi JQ
I too was floored by the birch tree. It is fabric! She lucked out and found landscape fabric that looked exactly like birch bark. She ran short and had to piece one of the trunks near the bottom but you had to get your nose right up to to tell.

VERY NICE! I love the piecing as you describe from pinks to blues in the sky and reflected in the water.
Your wavy quilting is inspirational. Thank you for sharing this true work of art.

As an aside: A blue heron is "in the news" in my neighborhood as several folks with ponds have been reporting the loss of their fish to a wandering blue heron. This in the city of Atlanta, less than 5 miles from downtown. . .

I can only echo all the lovely praises sent to you both for the whole artistic presentation and I absolutely love the heron colourings. Patience and dedication to achieving such beautiful scenery deserves a medal. This is a true panoramic view.

Is there thread that you prefer to use when quilting heavily? I recently did dense quilting and the quilt became very stiff.

Stunning quilt for a lot of reasons. Your quilting is so perfect for the total piecing of the background and applique picture techniques. This is an artful presentation in every way. And, thank you for explaining the products you used and the outcome. There is so much conversation about products and outcomes that can be confusing. Showing us the outcome is worth that proverbial thousand words. Thank you for your expert desciption.
