Both are gorgeous, I was going to do chicken scratch, bought all the stuff for it and never got to it. Gave away the fabric a few years back. Saw it in a magazine, probably Womans Day or Family Circle.

Love the look of it. My mom used to do aprons and also trims on gingham blouses - around the collars, hems on shorter sleeves, and panels down the front, or a yoke on the back. I would like to find cotton gingham - have only found polyester lately which is not comfortable for blouses. It looks so neat.

Default I watched my grandma make thing with this pattern, beauty full work

[QUOTE=#1piecemaker;4954292]Someone was asking the other day about whether or not anyone ever used gingham in quilts or not. I was jumping up and down raising my hand. But, knew my top was stuffed away in a trunk and I'd have to move mountains of stuff to get to it for a picture. Well, guess what? I already had a picture. found it yesterday while cleaning out old newpaper photos from my writing days. This is called chicken scratch for those who have never seen it. Hope you enjoy my quilt. I plan on digging it out and getting it quilted so I can enjoy it. I had forgotten how pretty it was.[/

I LOVE it!. Doing one of these is on my bucket list. My grandma made each of us 20+ grandkids a gingham dress with a patterned border in cross-stitch. It warms my heart to see your quilt top. Yes! dig it out and get it quilted so you can enjoy it every day.

I have several patterns for this. A person could make their own too if they wanted to. I'll be glad to share my patterns with anyone who would like to have some. Just PM me and ask.
