I have been waiting to put a quilt together for quilting. I usually used spray basting but after seeing your remarkable success, I am ready to try the school glue method. Thanks so much for the pictures and tutoring.

I just took the plunge and basted a quilt with Elmer's School Glue. I LOVE IT. I used a polyester batting and put the glue on the batting (just a very thin line) and, being the impatient type, used a dry iron set for polyester to heat-set the glue. I did one side at a time. Then I machine quilted with NO pleats, tucks, or problems. After binding, I threw the quilt into the washer (I have a front loader) on cold with a short cycle and then in the dryer on low heat. Turned out fabulous! I'm a convert. Do they sell Elmer's School Glue by the 50 gallon drum?

    Default Elmer Spray Glue

Has anyone used the Elmer's Spray Glue for basting a quilt? Just recently saw this in a Dollar General Store along with the regular Elmer's School Glue. Would like a reply if you know anything about this product.

I've started using Elmer's instead of the wonder-under stuff for appliques. I just cut out the appliques, put a thin line of glue near the edge and place it on the background. Wonderful stuff.
