Default Going away quilt - very BUSY

My boss for 11 years left in September for a job much closer to his home. For the entire time he worked with me he drove about an hour and 15 to an hour and 30 minutes one way every day. His new job is four miles from his house.

Our staff all picked a fabric that would remind him of us (the M & M's are mine), and then we picked a few fabrics for him. Since we're Accountants, the money fabric is obviously for all of us. The back is great for him because he owns a boat and loves to spend time on it. The pattern is a modified YBR to accomodate some large-scale fabrics.

He left in September, but I had a couple of family emergencies that prevented me from concentrating on the quilt. I finally finished it today. It's very busy, and we wouldn't normally make something like this, but it does serve its purpose.

    Thanks for looking,

    Darren

It may be busy ... but if it's representative of things that have meaning to him, then it's perfect!
What a good idea to get everyone involved in the fabric selection.
Think of it as an adult "I Spy"!!!

Great backing fabric ... and a perfect match for one of his loves.

I hope the whole group gets to present it to him together.

I agree, it serves it's purpose and will be special to him I'm sure. It's so nice to personalize a quilt for someone.
He will always remember you. Peggy

Super idea and such a wonderful ecclectic assortment of fabrics representing someone significant! I think it came out really great. Like the name of a "Adult I Spy" quilt! Wonderful team work on the fabric selections!

When I saw this, the words that came to my mind were "I SPY". It is actually quite darling, I bet he loves it.

It'd be fun to have him guess who chose which fabric as I bet some of them point directly back to one person.
And for the stories that could be shared as to the reasons for certain choices!
... looks like a fun night when you present it to him!
