    Well, ladies, I found more quilts with this same patchwork pattern, looking at the MYSTERY TRAIN #3 under the Albums right here on QB. There is lots of variety in the scrappiness, with lots of different colors of the stars.

    Actually the tiny yellow stitching on the Gold Star is only an adornment, not quilting the layers. I used three strands of DMC Embroidery Floss, in a near-match to the color of the stars. This is only stitched through the top layer, it helps define the stars, helps to make the little seams lie flat on the underside. And it gives that "hand-stitched" look. The whole quilt will be machine sewn, including machine quilted, and I'm working on that at home. Thanks to all for your words of encouragement, and positivity.
