Here is a Singer I found on Craigslist. They want $50, is that a good deal?

Yes but go ahead and offer less. I'd offer $30 and probably settle on $40.

$50 would be a little high for me; $30 would be more reasonable. I would want to know what condition the cords are in, though; I don't like having to fool around with the electrical components. I would also expect the bobbin case to be included (replacements cost about $25 online) and the machine to actually sew.

Oops! I see it's a handcrank. I might pay $50 for a handcrank. It looks like it's a handcrank that has been "updated" for electrical use as well. $40 would be better.

Is this a hand-crank machine? I paid around $200 for mine. I think it's a good deal. Singers are workhorses!

I would because I have never had a hand crank machine.

You need to grab that now. Yes it is a great deal. I use to be an antique dealer (years ago). I had one of those that sold for $300. It didn't have a cabinet either. The handcrank (which is what I had) is the one that sold for that. A friend of mine had the treadle that sold for $350.00.
