Because of the bright colors, and because you are thinking about taking it to the beach, back it with some terry cloth. Great for a beach blanket. I could go either way. Kinda like you that it needs something to calm it down a bit, maybe some solid piping along the borders and for the backing. But on the other hand, if you really don't like it, have you thought about charity? The people that can't see well or the children that are shut-ins really love the bright colors. I feel it is a very cheerful quilt and you should enjoy it any way you can.

It gives the impression of a sunset at the ocean. I think it is quite lovely.

I think it is absolutely wonderful!

Have you seen Kaffe Fassett quilts? Many of them looked like he had too much coffee, or Kahlua or something.

That quilt is too beautiful to be delegated to the beach...but it is yours, you made it and you can do what you want with it.

I'll be happy to take it off your hands and give it an honored place in my home! You don't even have to finish it! really, I do love it.

warm quilt hugs, sue in CA

I like the bright colors. But remember it is still one of your children.
