Hi everyone - thanks for all the nice comments - now to try and answer the questions.........

Grammie - it was a split 9 patch - I had some lovely blue squares (with a few purple thrown in there too ) and they were calling for a home. I had planned a different top for this granddaughter, but she was insistent upon blues - hence this top as there were not enough of any grouping but they all went well together.

Ruth - I had planned on adding a 6 inch sashing as a contrast to the bright blue - but I cut it wrong   - so gave that idea up - thought about making some corners from the bright blue - to make it work - and may continue to think on this idea   If I were to do that, I would cut the sashing down to 4 inch I think. As far as finishing it Ruth - hopefully I will get to borrow my neighbor's table (and with a little luck her help) to pin it very soon - then I plan on quilting it right away. I would say by the end of June - I do not need to be stacking up more UFO's!!!!

Sandpat - would love your addy - but sorry if u may think u would get his top........... Won't be happenin ..................

16 grandkids should keep you quilting and out of trouble for quite a while! This quilt is beautiful--I know she'll treasure it!
