I am very eager to see how your friend progresses. I am sure he will be a real beauty. You have selected a fine palette. The one thing I am not clear on is how you proceed from here. Are you sewing to a foundation with invisible thread? Are you gluing in place then covering with a mesh to quilt in place? My main avatar is a gold dragon, so I am very interested to see where you go with this.

Each piece is heat-bonded onto a foundation, then I will make the quilt sandwich, then each seam between pieces will be satin-stitched, to create the quilting.

I've tried it on a small piece. It should work.

What exactly is this technique called? I've seen similar techniques like this before but I'm never able to find out the name, so I can learn more about them.
Yours is going to be beautiful!!!

Neat project, please keep sharing your progress with us. I just started an eagle doing that type of piecing. Will be interesting to see how we do.

This project should keep you busy for a while. Wonderful pattern and fabrics. Thank you so much for the peek.

    No idea..lol!
If there is a tutorial somewhere, I'd love to see it. I've just gone at it through trial and error with my last piece, which was a stained glass lead-lining sort of thing with a dragon and a princess. I just thought the satin stitching would be pretty as a change from the black lining.
    Just hoping it works.

Some posters asked fme to update this thread when I got further along....Well, I've got the features done and most of the dark colour. Still lots to do, but it's taking shape!

    Thanks for your interest!
