I can't thank you guys enough for all your help with finding patterns for a quilt for my Grandmother. I decided on a sampler and gave the list at the end of the thread. http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/14236.page

I have purchased fabric and made the first block today. It was fun, my points were where they are supposed to be, and I won't cut off the points when I sew the block to the sashing. It reminded me what fun piecing is. Been working on a couple projects that were probably too advanced for me...so they've taken me a while. This was good.

I plan to post pics of each block as I go. I hope you enjoy it. I loved seeing everyone's quilts and suggestions when I started!

Here are the two types of fabrics I picked. One is bright but dark and the other bright but light. The photo quality is horrible, but my camera broke so I have to work with what I got!

The dark ones include: (I included yellow so we could see the purple) A dark purple with violet mum-looking circles. They kinda balloon like mushrooms or fire crackers. It's prettier in person than in pic. Next is yellow with white polka dots, then a violet paisley print with small yellow and violet flowers, teal blue tone on tone, and a fabric that has teal and dark purple roses on a violet background.

Here are the lighter ones: a hot pink tone on tone, blooming petunias of multiple bright colors, and a wild tangerine tone on tone.

And here is a picture of the first block. I used the dark purple with violet firecracker things and the yellow:

This looks great! Keep up the good work!
You've inspired me to start my dad's lap quilt.

I love the purple and yellow. Those colors look great together. Your points are great. Can't wait to see the next one.

What a great start! It makes me want to get back to the lap quilt I was making before all of the "little Christmas gift projects". Pieceing is very satisfying, isn't it?
