Patty - I love your sweatshirts - ALL of them. My favorite type clothing is sweatshirts.

How do you do it with keeping the ribbing on the bottom and the sleeves. You mentioned having to finish and sew the ribbing on. Do you take it off the sleeves and the bottom and then sew it back on after your done putting the patches on? Isn't that hard to do? I really like the idea of having the ribbing on for the added length and on the sleeves for being able to push the sleeves up.

I also like how you left some of the sleeve without patchwork - besides for the lighter weight I like the contrast.

BTW, during the winter months - from mid October till mid May we are nearly neighbors - we live in PA in summer and Hawthorne at Leesburg in the winter. I just started quilting in Feb or March and went to a class at Connie's (Quilter's Dreams) and there were several women in the class from The Villages. My husband's nephew lives there too.

Oh my goodness, yes we are neighbors of sorts if you're in Leesburg part of the year. When you get down here, let me know and maybe we can get together but I don't drive outside of the Villages. You'd need to come here but that could be worked out. Several of the ladies in my quilt chapter shop at Quilter's Dream but I just go to JoAnn's here in the Villages.

    Sweatshirt:
I take the sweatshirt apart very carefully - no cutting like the instructions recommend doing. I like to keep as much length etc as possible. I do carefully take off all of the ribbing as well. Quilt each section of the sweatshirt.
Sew the shoulder seams together and then set the sleeves back in place.
Sew the side seams which include going up the seams of the sleeves at this point. Sometimes I take the cuff ribbing off the sleeves and sometimes I leave it on and just work carefully to neatly tuck the edge of the added fabrics and stitch neatly in place along the top edge of the cuff. My first 2 I left the cuffs on but am now comfortable with removing them and then putting them back on. It isn't that hard to do. I add the neck ribbing and bottom ribbing last..

Give me a holler via PM when you get to Leesburg ok.
    Hugs
    Patty
I have another sweatshirt completed that I need to get the photos posted for so keep watch. Had I not kept the ribbings in place, it wouldn't have fit my tall grandaughter.

Just posted my most recent quilted sweatshirt under it's own name in photos - it's Grammypatty7 - Katies quilted sweatshirt.

You can also find it by clicking on my user name and selecting either my bookmarks or projects list.
