Congrats on a well deserved winning streak. I love your philosophy of not quilting for the show, but showing what falls into the categories. That way it doesn't take the fun out of quilting, but while your quilting, you're doing you best to be accurate and creative. Thanks for expressing that.

Showing is far from being financially rewarding, so to me, to make for the show makes absolutely no sense!!!! I do what I like because I enjoy it and want to keep the FUN in it, as you noted.
And yes, I do try to keep the accuracy ... with what it costs, to me, it only makes sense to do the best I can in all I do. It takes very little extra time to square up as I go along in a project and avoids disappointing final results.
Creativity is not my strength. I have so many here on the QB to say THANK YOU to, for helping me develop in that way. I have learned so much and picked up so many ideas here, that it has helped my creative juices flow ... so I am getting better at it.

I am happy for you! 1st place is great! What is the fabric that is red, white and black? I love it!
thanks
thanks
A popular class at the Fair is the "Block Challenge".
Kits were distributed with 2 fabrics that must be used.
We could add more fabrics, but must use some of each of the 2 fabrics.
The block was to depict the theme of next year's Fair .... "Carousels and Cowbells".
The entries were kept, and a quilt will be made for a raffle at next year's Fair.
Here's the kit fabrics ...

My block placed 1st! I had been so excited about the challenge, until I saw the fabric! That large print just through me for ideas and I put it off for quite awhile before I made the block. In the end, I just used it in the centre of my octagon representing the carousel. There was such a variety. A lot of appliques using the large print. Some did patterns with cow bells. A couple had made the cutest carousel horses, though without any connection to the cowbell part of the theme. This picture is from my design wall as I forgot to get a photo of it at the Fair along with all the others, for future ideas.

Sorry, but I have no clue what the fabrics are.
They came in the kit from the Fair and I was not lucky enough to get any selvages.
It is a lovely fabric ... though created a true "challenge" with the challenge requirements.
