    Default Granddaughter's Visit Quilt

My 9 year old granddaughter came to stay for 2 weeks and her priority was to learn how to sew. So, we made a quilt. She hand-stitched, used a new Singer (160 anniversary) and the one she loved was the Featherweight created in 1953. She sewed blocks together, pinned, and sewed the label on by hand. Took us 3 days and then she had time to create a back pack with the left over fabric. She will never forget her trip by herself from Wichita, Kansas to Marion, Ohio. We had a wonderful time.

Kudos to grandma for teaching DGD to sew! And she has done a lovely job on her quilt! What a special time for the two of you.

Great job to both of you. She will remember that trip for the rest of her life. I know I spend many trips knitting with my grandmother.

Great job. Looks like you've got a little quilter in the family. I'd like to see her backpack.

What wonderful memories you have created for both of you! I love it when my grandkids spend time with us. We laugh a lot and love a lot.

I just love hearing these kind of tales, it makes me realise what I am missing in my life - no grandchildren.

Here are pictures of the backpack as requested. We used the backing of the quilt to make the backpack. Her design!!
