I take the receiving blankets and make a quilt out of them. I started when my son was little, and we moved him to a regular twin bed. I didn't have any money, and he was scared in the bed. He screamed in the crib, and would sleep on a reg. bed, so we put one up for him. anyway, I made his and embroidered his name at the top. backed it with a sheet blanket since I had one handy. He loved it, so I did the same for my daughter. Then along came the nieces and nephews, so they each got one made. I never took pictures back then, but the last one I made several years ago I did . I made smaller ones for my grandchildren this year. well instead of embroidering their name at the top, I used a picture of them.

    What a neat idea.
Our Grandmother's would be proud of you for following the "Use it up, Wear it out..." idea. Finding that second life for receiving blankets is great.
I wish I had thought of this for my grandchildren. Alas their little blankies are all passed along by now.
I bet these are the best loved quilts!

Great work. And great idea...I hope you don't mind if I copy it. I have two coworkers who's wives are expecting. I would love to do something like this for them. Thanks. Kyia

I would be flattered at you liking my idea so much to want to do it also. I enjoyed doing it. The kids liked them. I know a new mother would love it.
:D thank you all for the compliments! I enjoyed making them knowing my grandbabies would be using them.
